Mohammedan Sporting Club lost in their own life and death match. Alfaz Ahmed's disciples lost 1-0 to arch-rivals Abahani at the Shahid Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla today in the Federation Cup. And Abahani's forward Mohammad Ibrahim showed the way of their departure. In the 74th minute of the match, Mohammedan was drowned in despair.
With this loss, Mohammedan's path to the next round of the Federation Cup is over. The team in Group 'B' has picked up only three points from three matches so far. On the other hand, Abahani made the path to the next stage easier with 6 points from two wins in two matches. The points of Rahmatganj which is one in this group is also equal to 6 points of Abahani. Mohammedan has one more match left. They will play against Fakirpool on February 4. Winning that match does not guarantee going to the next round. If Abahani and Rahmatganj do anything bad in their remaining matches, Mohammedan will have a lot to settle.
On this day, in the first half, both teams attacked one after another, desperate for a goal. But the two teams went into the break with a goalless score due to repeated mistakes and wasted opportunities. After the break, in the 74th minute of the match, Ibrahim received a low cross from Shahriar Emon. His excellent placement found the ball in the Mohammedan net. However, in the 86th minute, Mohammedan's substitute Mohammed Jewell's corner, Diabate, had a chance to score, but could not take the lead. In another match of the day, Chittagong Abahani drew 2-2 with Fakirerpool Youngmen.
