For the first time in 38 years in Australia… Yashasvi and KL Rahul made the record of opening partnership.

New Delhi. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have written their names in the record books by making a century partnership in the Test against Australia. Both of them made an unbeaten partnership of 172 runs on the second day of the Perth Test on Saturday. This is the first time in 38 years that India's openers have made a partnership bigger than 170 runs in a Test match in Australia. India has taken a lead of 218 runs over Australia thanks to the record partnership of KL and Yashasvi.

Apart from KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, only Sunil Gavaskar and K. Only Srikanth has been able to make an opening partnership of more than 170 runs in Australia. Sunil Gavaskar and Srikkanth had made a partnership of 191 runs in Melbourne in 1986. There is every possibility that KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal will break this record of Gavaskar and Srikanth on Sunday.

The first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia is being played in Perth. The Indian team was bundled out for 150 runs on the first day of the match. But on the second day India made an amazing comeback. First the Indian bowlers restricted Australia to 104 runs. After this, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul took charge. Both of them made a record partnership on the same pitch in Perth, in which the teams of India and Australia fell apart in the first innings.

Reminded of Dravid-Laxman
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul played proper Test match innings in the second innings of Perth Test. Both of them showed such patience and respect for the balls that the 2001 partnership of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman was remembered. 23 years ago in Kolkata, when the Indian team was struggling to save defeat while playing follow-on, Laxman and Dravid kept batting alone on the fourth day. Both were not out the whole day. Even in the Perth Test against Australia, India's innings was reduced to 150 runs. Everyone was questioning the technique and patience of the Indian batsmen. Then Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul spent two sessions without losing wickets. Australia tried 7 bowlers to get these two out but everyone kept returning disappointed.
