Zimbabwe's Christie Coventry has been elected the first female president in the 5 -year history of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The two Olympic gold -winning 3 -year -old swimmer replaced Thomas Bakh in Germany in IOC. Bakh has been in this position for 25 years. Coventry is not only the first female president of IOC, he is also the first African and the youngest president.

Coventry was elected to defeat Lord Co and other rivals at the 8th meeting of IOC today in Costa Navarino, Greece. After six wins in the elections, he has pledged to work with the IOC.

According to the rules of the IOC elections, more than fifty percent of the vote given by the IOC election, if no one gets the vote in the second round. In that case, the low voting candidate was dropped from the second round. In this way, the vote continues until more than half the support. Coventry got the required number of votes in yesterday's election. Of the 5 votes, 5 fell on behalf of Coventry.

Coventry will understand the responsibility from the current IOC chief Thomas Bakh on Olympic Day on June 27. Coventry came into politics after swimming after the Rio de Janeiro Olympics of the 21st. He has also been Zimbabwe's Sports Minister for 25 years.
