India is already under pressure after the test series against New Zealand. Because, the five-match Test series against Australia starting tomorrow in Perth is India's last chance to reach the final of the Test Championship. With no star cricketers on it, the pressure increased on India.
India are not getting their regular Test captain Rohit Sharma in the first match of the Australia series. Jasprit Bumrah will have to lead India in Perth instead of Rohit who is a new father. Besides, Shubman Gill got injured in the practice match and he is also uncertain about playing in the first Test. So sure changes are coming in the Indian XI. However, currently, in most cases, any team announces the XI before the start of the Test, but India is not doing it before the Perth Test, said Bumra. In the press conference, the Indian pacer said, 'We have finalized our eleven. You will know that tomorrow morning before the start of the match.'
Australia last won the Border-Gavaskar series in 2014. India was lost by Ajira Seva in their own camp. Later India won four consecutive series. Out of which two have happened in India, two in Australia. Whereas in the 2020-21 season, India won the series in Australia with a relatively fragile team. Rishabh Pant's heroic innings at the Gabba in Brisbane in 2021 is still remembered by many.
Ahead of the Test against Australia in Perth, Bumrah mentioned the thrashing by New Zealand at home. This 30-year-old Indian pacer said, 'When you win, you start from zero. But when you lose, you have to start from scratch. We are not bringing any load from India. Yes, we learned from the New Zealand series. But those matches were in different conditions. Here (Australia) we have different results.'
In the absence of Rohit, Lokesh Rahul or Abhimanyu Eswaran can be seen in the opening along with Yasswi Jaiswal. Because Rahul has the experience of batting in both opening and middle order positions. Even pace bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy may make his Test debut tomorrow.
