After the change of government, most of the directors of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) went into hiding. Nazmul Hasan Papon resigned as president. Another 10 directors lost their posts. Some have resigned.
The cricket board is struggling to manage various departments due to vacant positions. In such a situation, former captain Aminul Islam Bulbul recently commented that the Bangladesh Cricket Board is running with double applause.
Regarding Bulbul's comment, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said today, 'When I took charge, BCB people could not be found. Efforts are underway to break the deadlock by appointing new directors. Apart from this, every year activity report and audit report will be given to ensure the accountability of each federation. If someone commits corruption, it will also be investigated. However, several federations, including football, are autonomous. So there is no opportunity for the government to intervene.'
Asif Mahmood also said, 'It is true that BCB is running with a bang. BCB should take a new director.' He said these things at a press conference on the progress of the ministry on the occasion of the 100 days of the interim government.
Most of the federations were dissolved. Regarding the restructuring process, Asif Mahmud said, 'The complaints against various committees are being looked into and measures are being taken. Where there is deadlock, new committees are being formed to resolve the crisis. We have asked the federations to give an annual account. You (journalists) can ask the federations about this.'
Several stadiums are under renovation. The youth and sports adviser said, 'The stadiums are under the government. So we consider its maintenance and renovation as our responsibility. If there is a debt issue between the National Sports Council and the Cricket Board, we will look into it separately.'
