Challenge Cup is going to be held for the first time in domestic football of the country. Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan Sporting are going to meet in a one-match trophy fight. The Bhutanese referee will blow the whistle to avoid 'controversy' in this match.
The match will be played at Kings Arena on Friday at 5 pm. There is no Bangladeshi referee in this match. Three referees are coming from Bhutan. Only the fourth referee will be a Bangladeshi.
Those three Bhutanese referees also refereed against Bangladesh-Maldives on November 13 and 16. Baffa left them to officiate the Challenge Cup matches. They will leave Dhaka after the match tomorrow.
In this regard, Imran Hossain Tushar, general secretary of the federation, said, “There was a proposal from the chairman of the league committee to conduct this match with a foreign referee. According to that, this match is being conducted by foreigners at low cost.
Meanwhile, there was pent-up anger over the absence of a local referee to officiate the match. The dues of the local referees are around Rs. On top of that, no one is looking positively at the management of matches by foreign referees in domestic football.
