Yesterday against Velez Sarsfield, Argentina's top league club Deportivo Reistra fielded a YouTuber named Ivan Buhajeruk. The YouTuber with the nickname 'Sprint' has 7 million followers but no football experience. Reistra coach Cristian Fabbiani picked up Esprin after 50 seconds. Yesterday, Argentina's justice department started investigating why Asprin suddenly entered the field. An official statement from the public prosecutor's office said, 'The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into whether Deportivo Reistra coach Cristian Fabbiani and influencer Ivan Buhajeruk were influencing gamblers to bring someone to the illegal platform. A case has been filed to investigate the matter of illegal betting.
Buenos Aires club Deportivo Reinstra is known for its unorthodox marketing strategy. While seeing criticism for the YouTuber's pitch regularly, Reinstra apologized, saying in a statement, 'Unfortunately, marketing like this has spread a lot of negativity. We apologize from the bottom of our hearts. We had no intention of disrespecting Velez or Argentine football.'
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) said it had set up an ethics tribunal to begin an investigation. “There are some things we don't like,” AFA president Claudio Tapia told Ole, a local Argentine media outlet. They need to be corrected.'
