Indian television media Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has bought sole media rights for all Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments from 2024 to 2031. The company announced this in a notification today.
SPNI's cricket calendar is going to get richer with this deal. They already have the broadcast rights of England, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
According to the ACC statement, the new contract is valued at 70 percent more than the previous one. However, neither SPNI nor ACC disclosed the fixed price of the contract. Earlier, the property value for the 2016-2024 cycle was USD 62 million.
The new agreement covers all editions of the Men's and Women's Asia Cup, the U-19 Asia Cup and the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. SPNI will ensure broadcast of Asia's top cricket competitions across television, digital and audio platforms.
