The Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) has announced candidates for the mayoral post in five of the country’s 12 city corporations. Nahid Islam, the convenor of the party and opposition chief whip of the Jatiya Sangsad, announced the names of the mayoral candidates in a press conference at the party’s temporary central office at Rupayan Trade Center in Banglamotor in the capital on Sunday night.
Nahid said, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan in Dhaka South City Corporation and Ariful Islam Adeeb in Dhaka North City Corporation will fight for the post of mayor for NCP. Advocate Tariqul Islam will be a candidate for Comilla City Corporation, Advocate Md. for Sylhet City Corporation. Abdur Rahman Afzal and Rajshahi City Corporation election. Mobaswer Ali will contest for the post of Mayor for NCP.
The party’s member secretary and member of parliament Akhtar Hossain, spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, chairman of NCP’s local government election management committee and party’s chief organizer (North) Sarjis Alam and others were present at the press conference.
