Job online interviews have increased fake candidate's violence, AI in the back

The name of a new threat to the job market – Curious Intelligence (AI). With the opportunity of this technology, cheaters are now creating fake profiles. With these fake profiles, cheaters want to get the opportunity to work from far away through online interviews.

In the meantime, cheaters can hide their true identity by using artificial intelligence (AI) in almost every step of the job application process. They can create fake biographies (resume), professional pictures, websites and LinkedIn profiles with AI. All in all, the profile of an ideal employer who can be created with the help of AI – which does not really exist.

Once they enter an organization, these fraudsters can steal the company's secret information or install malware.

Although identity theft is not new. However, artificial intelligence (AI) is helping the fraudsters' work in a wider range. The problem is increasing day by day. Due to the AI, the crowd of fake candidates in the job market is now increasing at an alarming rate. According to Gartner, a research and consulting firm, one of every four job candidates will be fake by 2021.

David Mochazadlo, co -founder of Cyber Security Institute Vidk Security, recently faced such a fraud in an interview. The interview video goes viral on LinkedIn.

He told CBS News that he was shocked to understand the matter.

“We seemed to have been a bit insulted,” said Mochzadlo. Because, we are security experts. '

When he suspected that the candidate was using the AI filter, Machzadlo asked a simple question, 'Can you hold your hand in front of your face?'

It was a test. This is because the filter is distorted or does not work when most of the AI -based face filters are covered.

When the candidate refused to hold his hand in front of the face, Mochazadlo immediately closed the interview. He explained that the software that the fraudster was using did not seem very advanced. So if you put your hand in the face, the dipfek face filter was more likely to collapse.

This was the second time, when the Vidk Security interviewed a fake candidate made with an AI. After this incident, the recruitment process of the entire company was changed. From now on, job candidates are called directly to the office for a day.

The company pays for travel costs and also pays for the entire one -day job. According to them, this extra cost is for sure.

Such fraud is not isolated. The US judiciary has discovered multiple networks, where North Korean citizens are taking a fake US -based remote (remote) job. These fraudsters are making fake identity using AI and then smuggling the income in the US IT sector.

According to the judiciary, hundreds of millions of dollars are earned every year through such fraud – a large portion of which is being spent directly on the North Korean Defense Ministry and the Nuclear Weapons Program.

Machzadlo said the behavior of those who have been caught as fake candidates in the Vidk Security also match the North Korean cycle. Although the incident of Vidok is still under investigation.

From this experience, Vidk's co -founders have created a guide to identify potential fake job seekers, which will help employers in different sectors.

5 effective ways to identify fake jobs-

1. Verify the LinkedIn Profile better: The profile is true at first, but by clicking the 'More' button, select the 'About the Profile' option – it will show the date of the profile. At the same time, check whether they really have any connection to the establishments they have worked.

2. Ask Cultural -based Question: If a candidate says that they have grown up in a particular country or city, ask about the popular cafes, restaurants or local habits – no one can answer such questions easily without a local.

3. Direct meeting is the most reliable: Since AI technology is improving rapidly now, the most effective way to verify someone is to see directly. Because, in a direct interview, the fraud is more likely to be caught.
