Saurabh Garg, secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (Mostil), said on Thursday that integrating the broad set of alternative, administrative and survey data and making it publicly sharing it is the biggest challenge to publicly share it.
Addressing a seminar organized on the subject of 'Lewersing Non-Conventional Data Source for official statistics', Garg said, “The government has about 200 data sheet of official figures with survey data. We need to be able to integrate the survey, alternative and administrative data rapidly according to the statistics.
We have sets of data available, but access to them is an issue. We need to clearly define what kind of figures we can find because we have to take into account oblivion and privacy. '
He further stated that during the last few months, Mostil has defined the National Matadata standards to determine clear definitions for data collection and set a quality assessment structure for various ministries collecting information. The Ministry has also set up Common Identifyers to make inter -operation easier.
