Company intends Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals The Egyptian “Sidpec” company will establish a hydrogen power station with a capacity of about 14 megawatts during the current year 2025.
Two informed sources revealed to Al Arabiya Business that the Egyptian “Qara Energy” company, which specializes in the fields of energy efficiency, is currently negotiating to establish a new power generation station with investments of approximately $16 million.
The sources said that the station will be fed with hydrogen instead of natural gas, adding that hydrogen is produced as a side product through the Sidi Krir plant, and will be relied upon to reduce the value of fuel consumption needed to generate power at the Sidi Krir complex.
According to sources, “Sidi Krir” is currently implementing a power station with a capacity of about 14 megawatts, which includes a gas turbine and a steam generator with a capacity of up to 50 tons per hour, and the station is scheduled to enter the operating phase in the middle of this year.
The sources pointed out that with the completion of the implementation of the current station, the executive procedures for the new project will begin before the end of 2025, adding that the company is expanding the areas of energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in line with the visions of the oil, gas and petrochemical sector regarding developments in industrial activities.
