Arab Finance – General Petroleum Corporation puts two offshore wells on production with a total of 1,000 barrels of oil per day


Arab FinanceEngineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, inspected the work of the MDC4 onshore oil rig of the Modern Drilling Company, which is currently drilling a production development well, “Gharib 277 Well,” of the General Petroleum Company, according to statement Ministry.

During the tour, Badawy met with the work team in the drilling area, who explained that it is planned to put the well on production within two weeks after the completion of the drilling work, with a production rate of about 200 barrels per day. The minister also reviewed with the work team new ideas and modern technologies to intensify drilling work, and the number of rigs needed for the work. In the region, taking into account rationalization of spending without compromising the production process.

The Minister also reviewed the company's current and future work programmes. Engineer Mohamed Abdel Majeed, President of the General Petroleum Company, explained that despite the challenges and with the support of the Ministry of Petroleum and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation to provide the General Company’s needs to increase production, the company succeeded in putting the new offshore production platform GG 83/3 on production after completing the platform’s construction work and establishing production facilities. The production line is connected to the nearest offshore platform, and the first two wells have been put on production with a total of about 1,000 barrels of oil per day.

The third well is being drilled, as it is planned to drill two wells on the same platform, bringing the planned production from the new platform to about 2,200 barrels per day within the next 3 months.

During his tour, the Minister was accompanied by Engineer Salah Abdel Karim, CEO of the Petroleum and Geological Authority, Alaa Al-Batal, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Supervisor of Safety, Environment and Energy Efficiency, Engineer Ihab Rajai, First Undersecretary of the Ministry for Production, Engineer Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Minister’s Office, the Technical Office and the Ministry’s official spokesman, and Engineer Tamer Idris, Vice President of the Petroleum Authority for Production. .
