Petrol Diesel Prices: Before the New Year, prices of petrol and diesel may reduce in some states. Such indications were given by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday (October 29, 2024). Puri further wrote, “Additionally, as part of our commitment towards affordable fuel, we are introducing inter-state freight rationalization to reduce price disparities in petrol/diesel, which will benefit consumers , especially in remote areas, but this will not be applicable in those states where the Model Code of Conduct is in place.”

Hardeep Singh Puri said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the oil marketing companies for their announcement of increasing the dealer commission payable to petrol pump dealers and to benefit the consumers located in remote locations (away from the petrol and diesel depots of the oil marketing companies). “Welcome the decision to rationalize state freight, which will bring down prices of petrol and diesel in many parts of the country. (The decision will be implemented later in election bound states and constituencies).”
