President Murmu also expressed grief
President Murmu wrote on social media platform May God grant the bereaved parents and family members the strength to bear this cruel blow. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured babies.
37 children were rescued
10 children died in a fire at Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday night. It is being told that smoke rose in the Neonatal Care Unit (NICU) between 10.30 and 10.45 pm on Friday night. Before anyone could understand anything, the fire spread throughout the ward. It is being told that this fire started due to short circuit. After this there was chaos in the ward. At the time of the fire, 47 children were admitted in the ward. Of these, 10 died. While 37 were rescued. The rescued children have been admitted to different hospitals.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak reached Jhansi with a team of senior officials. He has ordered an investigation into the fire. Also, financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced for the families of the deceased children and Rs 50 thousand each for the injured children.
