Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Election Commission has allotted the revised 'Mashal' election symbol to the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction. Let us tell you that Shiv Sena was divided after the separation of current CM Eknath Shinde in June 2022. Due to which the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by the then CM Uddhav Thackeray had fallen.
There was a lot of mockery in the Lok Sabha elections
During the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Uddhav faction's election symbol 'Mashal' was described as resembling an ice cream cone. In which now, a slight change has been made and 'Torch' is clearly shown in the election symbol. Following the party split, the Election Commission had given the torch to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and two swords and shield as election symbols to the Eknath Shinde-led faction.
Shiv Sena had got all these election symbols earlier
Let us tell you that Shiv Sena, founded by Bal Thackeray, had successfully contested the elections in 1985 using the 'flaming torch' election symbol. Since its inception, Shiv Sena has contested elections on several symbols. It includes a train engine, a pair of palm trees and a sword and shield. Whereas three decades ago in 1989, Shiv Sena had sent four MPs to the Lok Sabha, when it was given the election symbol of bow and arrow.
