SCO Summit 2024: Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar is currently in Pakistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. According to the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, “The SCO CHG meeting is held annually and focuses on the trade as well as economic agenda of the organization. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is representing India in this conference. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar addressed the 23rd meeting of the Heads of Government of the SCO Council in Islamabad.

Slammed Pakistan on terrorism issue

In the SCO summit, S Jaishankar slammed Pakistan on terrorism and separatism. He said, “Terrorism, separatism and fundamentalism have to be avoided. Trust is necessary for better relations. It is important to respect everyone's sovereignty.” Addressing the SCO summit, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “There are many obstacles.” , which impact development, including climate, supply chains, and financial instability.”

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “The first objective of the SCO is to combat terrorism, separatism and extremism and this has become even more important in the present times. The SCO will have to be determined in combating these three evils.”

'It is important to respect everyone's sovereignty'

Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at the venue of the SCO summit in Islamabad. He stressed the importance of cooperation among SCO member countries to address common issues. He reiterated India's dedication to promoting stability and development within the region.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that cooperation should be based on mutual respect and sovereign equality, recognizing territorial integrity and sovereignty. It should be built on genuine partnership, not on a one-sided agenda. Pointing towards CPEC, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, SCO cannot progress if we pursue global practices only for trade and trade routes.

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was announced in the year 2015. This project passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which India considers its territory. Its objective is to bring oil and gas coming from Gulf countries to China through port, railway and road in less time and at less cost.
