“Registration of all land of Waqf Board in Karnataka should be stopped”, know why BJP leader wrote a letter to Amit Shah


Karnataka News: The uproar is increasing in Karnataka regarding marking of farmers' land as Waqf property. In this series, now the leader of opposition in Karnataka Assembly, R Ashok, has alleged that in view of the possibility of amendment in the Waqf Act, there is a hurry to register the land claimed by the Waqf Board.

In his letter, he urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to direct the state to immediately stop all such registrations of the Waqf Board till the completion of the JPC proceedings.

R Ashok said this in his letter

He said in his letter, “The state government and the Waqf Board have allegedly started altering the revenue records. The government is trying to transfer the ownership of farmers' land to the Waqf. If this happens, Karnataka's Thousands of farmers and poor people will be deprived of their legitimate and ancestral property rights.”

According to the BJP leader, the issue came to light when notices were sent to hundreds of farmers regarding claims on around 15,000 acres of land in Vijayapura district. He also alleged that the Waqf Board is secretly claiming about 10,000 acres of land in each district of Karnataka.

Claims are also being made on the lands of other religious organizations

He said in his letter, “The Waqf Board is also claiming the lands of temples, monasteries and other religious organizations. Apart from this, the graveyards of Hindu communities are also being claimed as Waqf property.”

He further said, “These hasty efforts to register the properties claimed by the Waqf Board have created insecurity and panic among the people and led to violence in Haveri district.” He is the Union Minister Amit Shah Urged to direct the Chief Secretary of Karnataka to immediately stop all land registrations to the Waqf Board.
