PM Modi is starting his three-country tour from the African country Nigeria. PM Modi will visit Nigeria before attending the G20 summit in Brazil.
This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in the last 17 years. Before Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in 2007, the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had visited Nigeria. The Prime Minister is making this visit to Nigeria on the invitation of its President Tinubu. On November 17, PM Modi will hold a delegation-level bilateral meeting with President Tinubu in Nigeria. After this, he will also address the people of the Indian community in Nigeria's capital Abuja and then leave for Brazil.
Political relations remain intact for 60 years
India and Nigeria are countries with close relations with each other. India is the largest democracy in the world while Nigeria is the largest democracy in Africa. Nigeria is considered the strongest country in Africa. The reason for this is the economy here. Diplomatic relations between India and Nigeria began even before Nigeria's independence in 1958, when India established its Diplomatic House in Peoples. Nigeria gained independence in the year 1960 and political relations of the highest level have been maintained between the two countries for more than 60 years.
India helped Nigeria after its independence
