To build the new assembly, Chandigarh administration will give 10 acres of land to Haryana near the road leading from the railway station to the IT park. In return, 12 acres of land will be given to Chandigarh from Haryana. The land given by Haryana to Chandigarh was in the eco-sensitive zone. Now consent has been given by the Union Environment Ministry for construction on the land. After the completion of the swap process, the Haryana government will be able to take steps towards forming its own assembly.
