Manipur Violence CM N Biren Singh admits the state is in turmoil amid escalating violence he vows strict action against those involved


Manipur Violence Latest News: Tension has once again increased in Manipur, which has been in the fire of violence for the last one and a half years. The phase of aggressive and violent protests continues. The violence continues in many areas here. This is the reason why the government has imposed curfew in many areas here. Internet services are closed in many districts.

The central government is continuously trying to control the situation here. Recently the number of security forces was increased here. Union Home Minister Amit Shah He also took many big decisions, but the situation still seems out of control. Here we are telling you in 10 points what is the current condition of Manipur.

Understand the entire situation of Manipur in 10 points

1. The current situation in Manipur is once again the same as before. Many areas of the state are in the grip of violence. On one hand, people of Kuki community are resorting to violence for their demands, while on the other hand, Meitei community is on the streets demanding strict action against the murder of six people of the same family.

2. Manipur's latest violence started from Jiribam. First the security forces' post was attacked by Kuki militants. Some militants were killed in retaliation. After this, on November 12, 2024, they kidnapped three women and three children of the same family. Later their bodies were found on the Assam-Manipur border on 16 November, after which the Meitei community started violent protests demanding strict action against Kuki militants.

3. To control the situation in Manipur, the Central Government has decided to send 50 more companies of CAPFs. In this way, 268 companies of CAPF will now be deployed in the state. The number of these five thousand soldiers will increase further. In this way, the number of soldiers deployed in violence-affected areas of the state will increase to 26,800. Among these 50 companies, the largest number will be from CRPF companies, while the remaining companies will be from BSF and other security forces. The additional 50 companies that will go here will include additional 6500 paramilitary forces. There are already 40,000 central forces present here.

4. Protestors set fire to two churches and three houses in Jiribam town. In Thangmeiband, protesters burnt tires just 200 meters away from the assembly building.

5. The state and central governments are making different efforts to stop violence in Manipur. The state government has decided to shut down internet for the next two days in seven violence-affected districts. This order is till 23rd November.

6. Due to Manipur violence, the Central Government had imposed AFSPA on November 14 in the areas under Sekmai, Lamsang, Lamlai, Jiribam, Limkhong and Moirang police stations in Imphal West, Imphal East, Jirobam, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts. Curfew was imposed indefinitely on November 16 in Manipur's capital Imphal (East and West), districts like Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching.

7. The National People's Party (NPP) had withdrawn support to the BJP government on Sunday (17 November 2024), demanding the removal of CM Biren Singh.

8. Meanwhile, the rift in BJP's Manipur unit deepened on Tuesday (19 November 2024). 19 out of 37 BJP MLAs did not participate in the NDA meeting chaired by CM Biren Singh on Tuesday. These MLAs included leaders from both communities.

9. According to the news agency, Manipur CMN Biren Singh has held Congress and its leader P Chidambaram responsible for the violence in the state. He has said, “When he was the Home Minister in the then Congress government and Okram Ibobi Singh was the CM (of Manipur), he had brought Thangliyanpau Guite, President of Myanmar's Zomi Revolutionary Army, to Manipur. This organization is banned in Myanmar.”

10. Amid the unrest, Singh has promised justice and action against the culprits, although his stance has brought him into conflict with Kuki-Joe MLAs and political leaders like former Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
