Kolkata Patient Rape: The case of rape-murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was not yet over when in the latest incident a doctor made the patient a victim of his cruelty. Kolkata Police has arrested a doctor for allegedly raping a 26-year-old female patient in Hasnabad, North 24 Parganas.
According to a report in Times of India, the accused gave intoxicating injection to the woman and also made a video of sexual harassment. It is alleged that he also threatened to release the video on social media and also extorted Rs 4 lakh from it. The accused allegedly sexually assaulted her several times and also blackmailed her using videos.
The victim woman lodged a complaint against Noor Alam
The incident came to light when the woman, along with her husband, lodged an FIR against accused Noor Alam Sardar with Hasnabad police earlier this week. Based on his complaint, police arrested Sardar from his clinic-cum-residence in Barunhat area of the city.
Police presented the accused in court
The Times of India quoted Basirhat SP Hussain Mehedi Rehman as saying, “The accused is a registered doctor, who has been arrested for allegedly raping his patient after rendering her unconscious. Investigation in this regard is underway.” The confidential statement of the woman has been recorded and the accused has been produced in the court.
At present, the court has sent the accused to police custody for four days. Last month, the West Bengal government unanimously approved a new stringent bill to make death penalty mandatory in cases involving rape and murder.
