UP News: There is such a unique temple of Ravana in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, whose doors open once a year. Jalabhishek, adornment and worship takes place on this day only. Built in the year 1868, this temple is believed to fulfill every wish. Ravana is seen once in a year and he is worshiped due to his devotion and knowledge. People wait for Dussehra throughout the year. On the day of Vijay Dashami, amidst the tradition of killing and burning of Ravana, Ravana is burnt at different places in Kanpur and on one hand, worship and adornment takes place in the famous Ravana temple of the city.

For centuries, we have been reading and hearing about the character of Ravana in stories and texts. In which we know the image of Ravana as against dignity and Ram as Maryada Purushottam. Due to which, in the war between Ram and Ravana, Ram who fought for truth won and untruth was defeated in the form of Ravana. Even today there is a temple in Kanpur which was established in 1868.

There is also a giant Shivalinga in this temple and the idol of Ravana was also installed here, which was prepared by a family resident of Unnao. Once a year, on the day of Dussehra, the doors of this temple are opened and on this day, Jalabhishek of Ravana is done here with milk and water. Then after dressing up, worship is done with Aarti and all the devotees of all faiths reach here together.

Ravana was killed due to bad deeds

There is a belief about this temple that once in a year, when a devotee visits here and makes a wish, his wish is definitely fulfilled in this temple. There is a belief related to the temple that here Ravana is worshiped for his knowledge and devotion and he was killed due to his bad deeds, but everyone has a good and a bad side. Due to which, considering Ravana to be a scholar and form of devotion in this temple, the temple is opened once a year on the day of Vijayadashami and this temple remains closed on the rest of the year.

There is also a belief that on the day Ravana was killed by Ram, he got salvation and on the same day he got a new birth. Due to which Ravana's birthday is also celebrated in this temple on the day of Dussehra.
