India, Guyana Ink 10 Pacts; Resolve to expand ties in diverse areas – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

India and Guyana will increase cooperation in the areas of defence, trade, digital payment system, energy, pharmaceutical manufacturing and agriculture. During the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in 56 years, ten agreements were signed between the two countries in the presence of PM Modi and President Irfan Ali. These agreements will provide cooperation in many areas like hydrocarbons, healthcare, culture and agriculture.

On this occasion, PM Modi said, Guyana will play an important role in India's energy security. A framework will be prepared for long-term partnership between the two countries in this area. The visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana after 56 years is an important milestone in bilateral relations. We have identified a number of new initiatives to enhance India-Guyana cooperation. The Prime Minister said that both sides will make tireless efforts to promote economic cooperation. The two heads of state held wide-ranging discussions on strengthening overall relations and regional and global issues.

India will continue to contribute to capacity building of Guyana's army

The PM said, the close cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense is a symbol of deep mutual trust. India will continue to contribute to the capacity building of Guyana's military through scholarships and training. He said, I am happy that this year India has provided two Dornier aircraft to Guyana. On global conflicts, PM Modi said that India and Guyana agree that all problems should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He said, we are unanimous that reform in global institutions is the need of the hour.

Payment can be made through India's UPI in Guyana also

Under one of the agreements signed between the two countries, digital payments will be possible in Guyana under India's UPI (Unified Payments Interface). PM Modi said, in today's meeting we have identified many new initiatives to strengthen our cooperation. We will continue to make efforts to enhance our mutual trade and economic cooperation.

Jan Aushini Center will open in Guyana

PM Modi said, India is an important source of pharmaceutical products for Guyana. We will work on increasing pharma exports to Guyana. Along with this, we will also work on building a Jan Aushadhi Center in Guyana. India is contributing as a reliable partner in the infrastructure development of Guyana.

A global campaign in the name of Mother Tree

PM Modi's 'One Tree in the Name of Mother' campaign became a global initiative on Wednesday. PM Modi and President Irfan Ali planted a sapling under this campaign in Georgetown.

Will contribute to the food security of the entire region

Both sides also agreed to increase cooperation in the agricultural sector. Modi said, with the millet seeds provided by India last year, we were able to contribute to increasing the food security of Guyana as well as the entire region. Similarly, we will also cooperate in increasing the cultivation of rice milling, sugarcane, maize, soya and other crops.

Have personal connection with Guyana, came as a common citizen 24 years ago: Modi

PM Modi said that he has a personal connection with Guyana. He had gone there 24 years ago as an ordinary citizen. He said, today I feel fortunate to be here as Prime Minister. President Irfan Ali has a special relationship with India. Last year he participated in Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. His visit inspired us to take our cooperation to a new level. PM Modi said, India and Guyana agree that climate justice is a common priority for both the countries. We will continue to strive for progress in all areas. The Prime Minister said, our relations were established 180 years ago by the people who came to Guyana from India. Today, the Indian community plays an important role in the development of Guyana.

Guyana President Irfan Ali praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he is a champion among leaders across the world.
