MP News: Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated with great pomp in India. Govardhan Puja takes place on the second day of Diwali. A unique tradition is followed on Govardhan Puja in village Bhidavad of Badnagar tehsil, about 70 kilometers away from Ujjain, the city of Mahakaleshwar. Cows are driven over people lying on the ground. Crowds of people gather to see the unique tradition. After the fulfillment of the wish or to make a wish, people follow the tradition.
After the vow is fulfilled, people lie down on the ground in front of the cows. Villagers believe that mother cow is a symbol of happiness, prosperity and peace. Religious beliefs are followed after Diwali in other districts including Ratlam, Mandsaur. People follow the age-old tradition by walking on burning embers. There is a risk to people's lives while following the tradition. People follow tradition in the name of religious belief. The game of superstition in the name of faith has been going on for years in many districts.
Tradition is followed by risking life
There was never any attempt to ban events that put life at risk. Life-threatening events take place before the eyes of the administration. Surprisingly, even police arrangements are made in the village to make the events successful. Former MP Premchand Guddu also believes that after the Diwali festival, some such traditions are followed in which people's lives can be in danger. In such a situation, Ujjain district administration should become active and take some steps for prevention. He said that matters related to religion are sensitive. Therefore, people's religious beliefs should also be taken care of.
