On one side, politics is taking place regarding niqab and hijab. Religious leaders say that niqab and hijab should be used for simplicity and religiosity and not to become a means of fashion or attraction. Islam is a religion that emphasizes on providing high respect and protection to women.
Patron of Jamiat Dawatul Muslimeen and famous Aalim-e-Deen Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora said that women have been considered precious and respectable and arrangements for purdah have been made to protect their honor and dignity. Purdah is not just an external ostentation but a medium which helps both men and women to maintain the highest level of morality and decency. The basic purpose of the veil is to protect women from unnecessary attention and evil eyes. It protects their dignity and self-respect.
Market masks which are against the real purpose of the curtain
Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora said that the designs of niqab and hijab available in the market nowadays have somehow sidelined this basic objective of Islamic teachings. The decorative words, names, and artistic designs written on the niqab often serve as a means to attract attention, which is against the actual purpose of the veil. There is neither any religious benefit in wearing such niqab nor does it provide women with the sense of security and respect that Islam has ensured for them.
‘Islam advises to adopt decency’
Aalim-e-Deen Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora expressed his concern on this topic and said that such niqab and hijab, which cause attraction, are against the teachings of Islam. He told that wearing such a mask is not only useless but it can also become a cause of crime. Islam advises women to adopt simplicity and decency.
What is the purpose of the mask?
The purpose of the mask is not to attract attention but to create a respectful and safe environment. In Islam, women should keep their veil in such a way that their dignity is maintained and no questions are raised on their honor. Wearing a decorative or attractive niqab draws men's attention towards women, which is contrary to the purposes of purdah.
Islamic teachings instruct against wearing non-attractive attire
Islamic teachings instruct women to wear modest and non-flashy attire. Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora has appealed not only to women but also to men to stop the women of their houses from wearing such niqab and hijab. He said that it is the responsibility of every Muslim person to inspire his sisters, daughters and wives to follow the true teachings of Islam.
Niqab is for simplicity and religiosity
Niqab and hijab should be used for simplicity and religiosity and not as a means of fashion or attraction. Women should understand that purdah is not just a garment but a lifestyle, which gives them the right to live with respect in the society. On the contrary, if niqab and hijab are used to attract attention then it reduces their respect. It is the duty of every Muslim to follow the true teachings of Islam. If Muslim women follow niqab and hijab with simplicity, decency, and according to Islamic principles, it will not only ensure their own safety but will also become a role model for the entire society.
