Santosh Kumar P., leader of CPI in Rajya Sabha, has written a letter to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, objecting to naming the houses of support staff in the residential colony of MPs as 'Servant Quarters' and called it colonial mentality. CPI MP Santosh Kumar has requested Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to change the name of Servant Quarters in the MPs Colony. MP Santosh Kumar said in his letter that in all the government residential colonies of MPs, the houses of support staff should be renamed as servant quarters. This should be changed in official letters also.

Families of support staff are forced to go to the same toilet.

MP Santosh Kumar said that the condition of the houses of support staff in Vallabhbhai Patel House (VP House) of Delhi is pathetic. Many staff families have to go to the same toilet. In such a situation, there is a need to renovate the houses of the support staff and increase the number of toilets.

Appeal to enlarge the houses of support staff also

MP Santosh Kumar, in his letter, also raised questions on the very limited space available in the houses of the MPs' support staff. The CPI MP said that these houses are very small and a family can hardly live in them. In such a situation, the family of a support staff should get a respectable space to live.
