Before the assembly elections in Jharkhand, BJP's election co-in-charge and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a scathing attack on the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress. Accusing the present government of the state of deceiving the public, he termed it as a government dependent only on the votes of a particular community.
Raising the issue of infiltration in his speech, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that in 1951, the share of Hindus and tribals in the state's population was 91 percent, but now the Muslim population has increased to 38 percent. The reason for this increase is the presence of Bangladeshi infiltrators, who are occupying Jharkhand.
“If our government comes, strict action will be taken”
Assam CM stressed that if BJP government is formed in the state, it will work to drive out infiltrators from Jharkhand. When the BJP government comes to power, the infiltrators will be “killed and driven away”. Putting the ruling coalition in the dock, Sarma said that JMM and Congress feel that their vote bank will increase because of these infiltrators, but BJP will not allow this to happen.
“Resolve to protect the rights of tribal women”
The Chief Minister of Assam also made the intentions of the government clear on the issue of tribal women. He alleged that in Jharkhand, outsiders are cheating tribal women and taking over their land. Sarma said that when the BJP government comes, strict action will be taken on such cases. Along with this, he announced that the children of an outsider marrying a tribal woman will not be given tribal status.
