In the 1990s, when his films were flopping one after the other at the box office and he had distanced himself from acting to focus on his company, Big B had to face criticism. In an interview given to Veer Sanghvi in 1999, Amitabh Bachchan had revealed that when he was traveling somewhere with his parents, people abused him on the middle of the road for his acting.

While narrating that painful story, Big B had told that one day, when he was going somewhere by car with his parents, people surrounded his car on the road. They leaned towards his window and started insulting him. He recalled, “They put their heads inside the car window and started talking bad about his acting. They even abused him.” What was even more disappointing for the veteran actor was that his parents were sitting in the back seat at that time. Amitabh Bachchan had said, “You feel bad because your parents are sitting behind you in your car.”

In the same interview, the superstar spoke openly about his initial struggles in Mumbai. Big B had told that during his early days in the film industry, people would often stop him on the streets and ask him to leave the city, believing that he was wasting his time in pursuing an acting career. These comments shocked him, and at one point, he considered leaving the film industry altogether, saying that he would “quit when people don't want me.”

However, a few years after this interview, Amitabh's fortunes had changed. Big B came into limelight after becoming the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000. Then his role in Yash Chopra's Mohabbatein brought his career back on track. Today, he is making waves in both Bollywood and TV.
This year Big B's Kalki 2898 AD was released which was a blockbuster. Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Ashwatthama in the film and he received a lot of praise for it. Recently, Big B and Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyaan has also been released in theatres. This film is also getting good response from the audience. The film has collected more than Rs 110 crore in 6 days.
