The central bank has announced to increase the price of gold commemorative coins. The price of each coin has been increased by Tk 10 thousand and revised to Tk 1 lakh 25 thousand, which was Tk 1 lakh 15 thousand till now.
On Monday (October 14), Bangladesh Bank said that the price of this currency has been increased due to the increase in the price of gold in the international and local markets. The new prices will be effective from Tuesday (October 15).
According to the Central Bank, the prices of gold commemorative coins titled 'International Mother Language Day-2000', 'Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman 1920-2020' and 'Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021' have been revised. Gold commemorative coins of 10 grams weight made of 22 carat gold, 'International Mother Language Day-2000', 'Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman 1920-2020' and 'Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021' (with box) are sold at one lakh 25 thousand each. Rescheduled to Rs. Earlier, on August 29, Bangladesh Bank announced a hike in gold prices, effective from September 1.
Besides, there are currently 11 commemorative fine silver coins in the market. These include Bangladesh Independence Silver Jubilee-1996, Bangladesh Bank Silver Jubilee-1996, Bangabandhu Bridge Inauguration-1998 Bangladesh's 40th Victory Anniversary, 90 Years of 'Bidrohi' Poem- Rabindranath Tagore's 50th Birth Anniversary-2011, ICC Cricket World Cup-Bangladesh 2011, Bangladesh National Museum Centenary 1913-2013, birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, golden jubilee of independence 1971-2021 and 50 years of Bangladesh-Japan diplomatic relations.
These silver commemorative coins weigh from 20 grams to 31.47 grams. The price of these commemorative silver coins is 6 thousand rupees.
