The top private bank standard chartered Bangladesh and the International Social Organization Friendship are working simultaneously to improve the quality of life of the farmers in the area. The second phase of this agricultural development initiative has been successfully completed recently.
The initiative has worked to empower the farmers of the area with the help of 'Farm-to-Market'. In the meantime, this agricultural innovation has improved the quality of 5,000 farmers in the 4 fours. This sustainable method has helped farmers to rise to the poverty line by increasing production and tackle climate challenges.
Under this initiative, sustainable agricultural technology for farmers, training to increase production, technical assistance and market connection has been created. This integrated effort has accelerated agricultural activities in the most risky areas of Bangladesh. Besides, the initiative has reflected the importance of agriculture in sustainable development by ensuring the prosperity and food security of the farmers.
Nasser Ejaz Vijay, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said that Bangladesh's pastures are in the most risky condition due to climate change. The initiative has been provided to the entire stage of the agricultural cycle. The necessary materials have been provided to the farmers, including climate and saline tolerant seeds, fertilizers, pesticides. Training has been given to ensure the maximum use of agriculture. In addition, farmers have been able to increase work opportunities and sell agricultural products in a large range through market connectivity initiatives. Besides, farmers have adopted the technology of drying solar pumps and crops. As a result, the agriculture of life has now become self -reliant agriculture. In addition, infrastructure development such as construction of bunch has disrupted farming in addition to adverse weather resistance.
This initiative has also given priority to livestock management. These include livestock vaccination, D-Worming, artificial breeding and developed livestock and poultry supply. This integrated method varies to the source of income for the farmers, which has helped the farmers to increase the capacity of the society.
For 120 years, the standard chartered has been creating investment, service activities and new potential in the society to advance business and development. The bank won 20 international awards in 2021, which carried the signature of their constant commitment to Bangladesh's continuous improvement.
