Special arrangement at tax office from Sunday to file returns, online is gaining popularity

A month-long service program is starting at the tax offices from Sunday (November 3) for the filing of income tax returns. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed officials to ensure a fair-like environment.

Officials of NBR say that this time too, the tax office has special arrangements for taxpayers to submit income tax returns. Various services including return filling, ETIN collection will be available under one roof throughout November. 650 circles in 41 tax zones across the country have been prepared for this. Besides, there is help desk for online return filling.

It is known that NBR will set up a return deposit booth for government employees at the secretariat, which will be open from November 3 to 17. Besides, government employees in Sher Bangla Nagar will get this service from November 19 to 23. Like last year, special arrangements are being made to submit the returns of members of the military forces at Sena Malanch.

However, the company is insisting on submission of returns online as well. NBR Chairman said that no documents need to be submitted to fill the return online.

NBR Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan said, 'We are encouraging income tax payers to submit returns online. Returns can be easily submitted from home using WiFi network. As a result, I didn't have to go to the tax office, I didn't have to go to the bank. But the receipt will be available as soon as the return is submitted.'

NBR has improved the system of online tax return submission after several years of efforts. Officials of the organization said that registration must be done on the etaxnbr.gov.bd site first. Then the return has to be filled with the necessary information of income and expenditure. No documents to be uploaded. Proof of return submission will be available online.

This time it has been made mandatory for government employees of four city corporations including two of Dhaka to submit their returns online. The same rule has been made for employees of some multinational companies including banks.
