Record in paddy production

This year, a record amount of boro paddy has been produced in the country. However, none of the farmers and consumers are getting the benefits. The market situation is not in line with the production of boro. The price of rice is increasing in the market for this season. The government has raised the prices of all kinds of rice in the face of lack of surveillance by the government. As a result, the price of all types of rice from the retail market has increased. Although rice imports and internal yields are good, prices are high in the market. The government is trying to control the price of the rice, but failed. The information has been reported in the market.

It is known that when the paddy is in the hands of the farmer, the price of paddy in the market is low. After going to the hands of the traders, the price of rice is raised. The price of rice in the market is reduced to the market through the millers. And when the paddy goes out of the farmer, the price increases. Comments are commented that the government is failing to control the matter.

According to the Consumers Association of Bangladesh Cab, the price of rice in the market has increased by 5 percent in the last one year. Of these, the price of chicken rice has increased by 5 percent in the last one month, and medium and coarse rice prices have increased by 5 percent. It is alleged that the millers have made the rice market unstable in the rice conflict.

According to the Department of Agriculture Extension, about 5 percent of the country's total rice is produced during the boro season. If the yield is good, the supply increases, and the price decreases in the market. This year, the record has been produced in Boro. According to the data, the production of boro in the country in the fiscal year 20-25 has been one million tonnes. Production in the fiscal year 2021-27 has been 5.7 million tonnes. 2 million tonnes in the fiscal year 2021-22. 2022-21 in the fiscal year 2 crore 5 lakh tonnes. And the production of boro in the fiscal year 2021-27 has stood at 2 crore 5 million metric tons.

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), a marketing agency under the Ministry of Commerce, has revealed information about the increase in rice prices in their market price report. According to TCB data, in the last one month, the price of Nazirshil and Miniket is 5.75 percent, the price of pizam and climber is 5.7 percent and the price of Eri and gold has increased by 5.72 percent. Investigations in the market have shown that the price has increased. Sources in the Ministry of Food said there is no reason to increase the price of rice in the market. In addition, the government warehouse has enough rice. In the beginning of the current fiscal year, the government warehouse has rice and wheat reserves of 5.7 million metric tons, which is about 1 lakh tonnes more than the same period in the last fiscal year.

Meanwhile, Nizamuddin, general secretary of Badamtali and Babubazar rice owners of the capital, told the Bangla Tribune that the rice, rice market in the country, the rice market is now occupied by auto rait mill and corporate companies. They compete from the market and buy rice. As a result, the paddy market is increased. Besides, the current weather is not suitable for rice production. It has also had an adverse effect on the rice market. So the price has increased all kinds of rice. '

However, the rice producing farmers disagreed with it. They say, if anyone buy rice by competing, then the farmers should benefit. This year, the farmer did not suffer from the production of boro paddy, but did not get much profit.

Retail traders from different neighborhoods of the capital have said that rice prices have risen in the remote areas of the country. There, the owners of the rice have raised the price as the business is reinforced after the Eid, which is why the price of rice is now high. After the Eid of the sacrifice, the price of rice per sack has increased to Rs. Pratikji rice is currently being sold at an extra price of Rs. Now the retail rice is being sold at BR-20 per kg, Parija Manvede at the rate of Rs. Among the thin rice, the kg of girashil is 1 to 5 and the minket is 1 to 3 rupees. Cuttering is being sold at a rate of 1 to 5 kg.

Farmers said that when rice prices are expected to fall during the full season, the rice market has become unstable. The prices of different varieties of rice have increased from Rs 5 to Rs 5 per kg in the country including the capital. As the general consumers are under pressure, the farmers are disappointed. Now, many farmers think they are cheating on the rice market upward.

In this situation, Laik Ali, general secretary of Bangladesh Auto, Major and Hasking Mill Owners Association, said that the price of rice is high in the market. Because of this, the price of rice is rising. In the last three weeks, Pratikji rice has increased from five to six rupees. '

He said, “Thousands of gem paddy from the market has been competed by competition. The government does not say anything to them. However, the general millers take action when they buy 5 gems of paddy. Normal millers are quitting the rice business without being able to compete with the big corporate companies. Paddy supply has now been reduced to hats markets. The price is high. So rice prices are less likely to fall. But if the government-privately imported rice, I hope the market will be stable. '

Asked about this, Tofazzel Hossain, a farmer in Natore, told the Bangla Tribune by telephone, “Although the government has taken some initiatives to reduce the instability in the rice market, the result is not yet visible. Rice prices are constantly rising. The farmers have no hand here. I heard that the price of rice is high in the face. If the price of rice is high, it is normal for rice prices to increase. '

Asked about the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) general secretary Advocate Humayun Kabir said, “All are decorated with the Millers. They make the rice market unstable at their own convenience. When the crop is in the hands of the farmer, the price is reduced. The farmers were affected by it. Again, when the product goes away from the farmer, the consumer is damaged by the price raising. The government is unable to control it. '

In this regard, Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “Although the import and internal yield of rice are good, the price is high in the market.” The government is trying to control the extra price of rice. This year, the production of boro has been 1 lakh tonnes more than last year. Yet the price of rice has risen in the market. In this case, media cooperation is very important. '

He also said, “This time the government has brought the farmers to buy the crop for 7 days to protect the crop from the middlemen.” However, our problem is corruption. It is possible to solve all problems if it is prevented. '

On Friday (July 7th), Pratikji is a coarse rice in the retail market in the capital; Eri or gold is sold at Tk. 3 to 3, medium quality rice pizam or cloves at Tk. 5 to 3 and narrow rice nazirshil or miniket at Tk. 5 to 5 kg. Which is three to five bucks more in Manvede Kg during the week.
