Paper return submission will not be accepted on future days. And now for those who have made it mandatory to submit income tax returns online, their manual returns will not be accepted, said National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan.
He said this at a press conference at the National Board of Revenue (NBR) building in the capital on Sunday (November 3). This press conference was organized on the occasion of the inauguration of Income Tax Information Service Month-2024.
The NBR chairman said that by issuing a notification on October 22, all government officials and employees under the jurisdiction of Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Narayanganj and Gazipur City Corporations and all scheduled banks, mobile phone operators and officials and employees of several multinational companies have been made mandatory to submit income tax returns online. has been This initiative has been taken to encourage all other taxpayers in the country to submit e-returns and income tax online.
In response to a question, the NBR chairman said that so far this year, about 167,000 taxpayers have filed e-returns. An average of 8-10 thousand taxpayers are submitting e-returns every day. I won't be surprised if it is 50 to 1 lakh towards the end. As of last 1 crore 7 lakh people have registered e-TIN.
Stating that the information of income tax payers will be safe online, NBR Chairman said, there is no problem with e-return software security. Even the people who created this program can't see it. If a tax is paid in a circle, no one but that circle can enter it. Adequate security is ensured in view of cyber attacks. We will store the data ourselves. In every country, however, e-returns are filed online. There is nothing to worry about. If there is a problem, there is a solution.
