The government has appointed the former MD of Pubali Bank Helal Ahmed Chowdhury as the chairman of Basic Bank Limited. He will serve in this position for the next three years. This order was given in a notification signed by Afchana Bilkis, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on October 31.
It is said in the notification that Helal Ahmed Chowdhury is requested to take necessary action including approval of Bangladesh Bank in accordance with the provisions of the Bank Companies Act 1991 to appoint Helal Ahmed Chowdhury as a director and chairman in the board of directors of BASIC Bank for a period of three years from the date of his joining.
Before this, on October 9, through the notification of the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance, Basic Bank Chairman Professor Dr. Abul Hashem was removed by the government.
In 2020, Professor Dr. was appointed as the chairman of Basic Bank. Abul Hashem.
