First Airbus A350 joins Emirates fleet

The first Airbus A350 is going to join the fleet of Emirates Airlines. The Airbus was delivered to Emirates by the Airbus manufacturer in France on Monday. This is the first of the 65 Airbus orders Emirates has already placed. The rest will be delivered in phases over the next few years. The airline took delivery of a new type of aircraft for the first time since 2008. Emirates fleet is mainly based on Boeing 777 and Airbus A380.

The delivered aircraft is on its way from Toulouse, France to Dubai today. After arriving in Dubai, the Emirates Engineering Department will complete some minor final work on the aircraft. It will then be officially unveiled at a special event at the end of the week. A blend of jet fuel and sustainable aviation fuel is being used to operate delivery flights.

Emirates will operate its first commercial flight with the A350 in January next year. After the inaugural flight in Edinburgh, the A350 will operate to eight more destinations in the Middle East, West Asia and Europe.
