The government has decided to purchase one lakh 30 thousand tonnes of fertilizer for the current financial year 2024-25. This includes 60 thousand tons of granular urea, 30 thousand tons of MOP, 40 thousand tons of DAP fertilizer.
This proposal was approved in the meeting of the Advisory Council on Government Procurement in the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Thursday (December 26). Finance advisor presided over the meeting. Salehuddin Ahmed.
It is known that for the current fiscal year 2024-25, the specified amount of fertilizer will be purchased from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and domestic company Karnafuli Fertilizer Company Limited (Kafco). The total expenditure of the government will be 634 crore 32 lakh 12 thousand taka.
According to the sources of the meeting, the government has approved the proposal to import 30 thousand tons of bulk granular (optional) urea fertilizer of the 14th lot from the Agricultural Nutrition Company (Sabik) of Saudi Arabia for the current fiscal year 2024-25 under the Ministry of Industry. The cost has been estimated at 125 crore 88 lakh 12 thousand taka. The cost of each ton of fertilizer will be 349.67 USD.
For the current financial year 2024-25, the government has approved the proposal to purchase 30,000 tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer in the 10th lot from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (Kafco) Bangladesh. The expenditure has been estimated at Tk 123 crore 57 lakh. The cost of each ton of fertilizer will be 343.25 USD.
At the state level, the government has approved the proposal to import 30 thousand tons of MOP fertilizer of the 6th lot under the agreement signed between Russia's Prodintorg and Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation-BADC. Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture will bring this fertilizer. It will cost 104 crore 31 lakh taka. The cost of each ton of fertilizer will be 489.75 USD.
At the state level, the proposal to import 40 thousand tons of DAP fertilizer of the 10th (optional-1st) lot under the agreement between Morocco OCP Nutricrops and Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation has been approved. Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture will bring this fertilizer. The cost has been estimated at 280 crore 56 thousand taka. The price of each ton of fertilizer will be 584.50 USD.
