Barvider demanding to reduce the supplementary duty of hybrid vehicle

Bangladesh Reconditioner and Dealer Association (Barvida) recommended that the hybrid vehicle supplemented to be reduced to the middle class purchasing power. According to the organization, the market will expand the market, while the government's revenue will increase on the other.

At a press conference held at a hotel in the capital on Saturday (April 23), Barvida President Abdul Haque made these recommendations for the proposed budget for the next fiscal year.

Abdul Haque said, “The import and sales of reconditioned vehicles in the country have decreased significantly in the last few years as the middle class and lower middle class buyers have gone beyond the ability.”

He said that at present, up to 20 to 5 percent of the hybrid vehicle is being imposed on the cylinder capability. However, Barvida did not propose to reduce any specific rate.

The organization has also recommended completely withdrawal of supplementary tariffs on microbus imports. Currently, up to 5 to 5 percent of the microbus of more than 5,900 cc is imposed on 5 to 5 percent.

Besides, Barvida has demanded the withdrawal of tariffs on ambulance imports and 5 percent value added tax (VAT) as a living force. According to the organization, the burden of additional taxes on such vehicles is not acceptable from the human point of view.

The press conference also said that it is important to formulate an integrated and acceptable policy on the import and use of electric cars, hybrid cars, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen-driven cars in the country. Besides, the demand for new and old cars has been demanded to eliminate discrimination.

Barvida claims that there are currently the difference between reconditioned and new vehicle registration fees. As a result of this difference, the registration fee of the reconditioned vehicle is ranged from Rs. The organization has called for the elimination of this discrimination.
