Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has seized the bank account of Awami League's cultural affairs secretary and former member of parliament Asim Kumar Ukil. At the same time, the bank accounts of his wife and former Member of Parliament from reserved seat Apu Ukil and their children Shayak Ukil and Shuddha Ukil have also been seized.
On Wednesday (October 16), BFIU sent a letter to the country's banks and financial institutions with instructions in this regard.
The letter states that all transactions of the persons whose accounts have been frozen will be stopped. For the next 30 days, no transactions can be made as such. Besides, they have been asked to submit all the bank account information of the company owned by them.
