Upper Egypt accounts for 68% of the allocations for the first phase of the Presidential Initiative for a Decent Life

Arab Finance: The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation issued a report on the executive position of the first phase of the presidential initiative «A decent life» To develop the Egyptian countryside until the end of November.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, announced that the implementation rate of the first phase projects for a decent life; It reached 85.5% by the end of November 2024, and financial availability reached 295.5 billion pounds, or 84.4%, in addition to the number of completed projects reaching 16,812 projects, with the completion of the development of 100 villages at a total cost of 21 billion pounds, with a total of beneficiaries amounting to 1.2 million citizens, explaining that This contributed to an improvement in the “basic services availability rate” index by about 69 percentage points.

She explained that the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside, “A Decent Life,” represents the largest project in the world in terms of the number of beneficiaries, and the number in its first phase is only 18 million citizens living in about 1,500 villages, and the cost of implementing its first phase alone exceeds 350 billion pounds, with a number of projects amounting to 23 thousand projects.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation added that the project was registered on the United Nations platforms, “Goal Accelerators” and the “Best Practices” platform, in view of the project’s role in achieving the 17 sustainable development goals in all their economic, social, and environmental dimensions, in addition to the project’s objectives and results. Specific measures that can be measured within a specific time frame, as well as being based on the principle of participation in planning, financing, implementation and follow-up.

She continued that “A Decent Life” aims to reduce multidimensional poverty and address development gaps between governorates, explaining that the governorates of Upper Egypt account for 68% of the first phase’s allocations with a number of beneficiaries who constitute 61% of the total beneficiaries of the first phase, stressing that the project achieves the objectives of the national strategy. For human rights, where the percentage of investments directed to human building exceeds 70% of the first phase allocations.
