In its plenary session yesterday, Tuesday, the House of Representatives, headed by Counselor Dr. Hanafi Gebali, approved the report of the joint committee of the transportation and communications committees and the offices of the Economic Affairs, African Affairs, Agriculture and Irrigation Committees on the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt’s Decision No. 371 of 2024 regarding the approval of the grant agreement provided by the Development Bank. African Union to contribute to the preparation of the second phase of feasibility studies for the maritime corridor project between Lake Victoria and the Mediterranean Sea (VICMED) in the amount of 2 million US dollars, Al-Ahram Gate reported.
According to the report, the grant agreement aims to contribute to the preparation of the second phase of feasibility studies for the shipping corridor project between Lake Victoria and the Mediterranean Sea, with the aim of establishing the regional operational unit in Cairo and appointing national regional experts specialized in operating and managing the project, in addition to undertaking initial data on the hydraulic basins. , topography and geotechnical data, in addition to conducting a general and strategic study for environmental assessment and auditing of the project accounts.
