Arab Finance: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting to discuss the European mechanism To adjust carbon limits Within the framework of working to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports through compatibility with the mechanism, in the presence of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, and Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development explained that an implementation plan will be finalized during the coming period to amend carbon limits, indicating that in this regard, the economic sectors targeted to reduce the carbon footprint will be identified as a first stage, in an effort to activate energy efficiency in the industrial sector. In addition to identifying priority exporting companies and factories to obtain financial support to green their production lines, while informing exporters and investors of the environmental requirements and standards required for export, in order to work to attract green financing sources for those companies and factories, as well as issuing a set of incentive measures for the use of renewable energy sources, Establishing a solar energy services platform, and working to open new export markets for national products.
For her part, the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation presented the Ministry’s efforts to support the industrial sector in coordination with development partners regarding the mechanism for adjusting carbon limits, as she referred to some activities in this regard, including providing funds through grants to support the industrial sectors targeted by steps to adjust carbon limits. This includes efforts made with both the European Union and its financing institutions to provide technical support.
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat pointed out the importance of choosing specific goals within the executive plan to focus on.
