In his speech, Talaat explained Egypt’s efforts to enhance the use of artificial intelligence. Including the launch of the Egyptian Charter for Responsible Artificial Intelligence; Pointing out that the Personal Data Protection Law was issued within the framework of work to build a legislative framework for data exchange and protection, and a center is currently being established to become the decision-making body in the field of data protection, in addition to cooperating with the competent authorities to develop legislation on data exchange to make it available to various authorities. While maintaining its privacy and classification.
He added that the Applied Innovation Center was established in 2019 to build systems and algorithms using artificial intelligence techniques to find innovative solutions to address the various challenges facing Egyptian society. Applications have been developed in the fields of agriculture, health care, environment, and water resources management. Noting that these efforts resulted in Egypt’s ranking advancing 49 places in the government readiness index for artificial intelligence.
Amr Talaat also pointed out the importance of creating a suitable environment for data exchange as well as for research and development, building a base of trained personnel in this field, and providing the digital infrastructure and computing resources necessary to operate artificial intelligence systems and support its applications.
During the event, the Ministers of Communications, Information Technology, and Public Business Sector witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between SAP Egypt and Misr University for Informatics, with the aim of the university joining SAP’s University Alliance Programme, which seeks to integrate the company’s solutions and applications into educational and training curricula for students and faculty members.
This agreement aims to provide students with the digital skills required to keep pace with developments in the labor market, which enhances their readiness to work efficiently in an advanced digital work environment. The alliance program provides students with the opportunity to benefit from practical training programs and various SAP applications, providing them with a comprehensive educational experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
