Arab Finance: Dr. Hani Swailem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, held a meeting with Mark Bowman, Vice President of the European Development and Reconstruction Bank, for partnerships and policies; Where it has been discussed about ways to enhance cooperation between the ministry and the bank in the field of water, according to Statement cabinet.
During the meeting, the various areas of cooperation between the ministry and the bank were reviewed, and a number of current projects such as the “Kitchen Bank rehabilitation project” were discussed, and a number of projects being prepared for them such as “the rehabilitation of lifting stations in Egypt” and “rehabilitation of the Rashid Wall” and the cooperation proposals in the use of solar energy to operate the lifting units on the course.
Cooperation between the Ministry and the bank was discussed in the field of rehabilitation of lifting stations under the umbrella of the “strategic plan for the rehabilitation of lifting stations in Egypt” recently prepared by the Ministry and the study of the proposal to implement projects to qualify the stations in partnership between the public and private sectors PPP based on the inventory prepared by the Ministry to the stations status within the strategic plan.
What has been implemented so far from the components of the “Water quality improvement project at the Kitchener Bank” regarding the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, where the preparation of the required environmental studies has been completed, and the scraping work, weapons and rehabilitation of the bank's bridges were carried out, and work to replace (7) bridges, (1) Hadar and (1) a large range For a number of lifting stations, offering the process of rehabilitating the emergency center in Abu Sakin, and offering the process of supplying the actions measuring and monitoring water quality.
Complementary studies are currently being conducted in coordination with the “European Bank for Reconstruction and Development”, where Dr. Swailem indicated the importance of making all necessary efforts to overcome the obstacles facing the project, speed up the implementation rates, adhere to the time programs prescribed for the project, and accelerate the procedures for offering and attribute the rest of the business.
