German 2G Energy seeks to implement projects to produce green hydrogen in Egypt

The German company 2G Energy is negotiating with 5 Egyptian companies to cooperate and conclude partnerships in the fields of hydrogen, biogas, and combined heat and power systems (CHP).

Jonas Sturmann, the company's sales officer, told Al Arabiya Business that negotiations are underway with 3 companies to implement projects to produce green hydrogen, and discussions are also underway with two companies to enter into a partnership to implement projects to produce biogas in Egypt with huge investments.

He refused to disclose the total investments targeted to be pumped into the Egyptian market, stressing that the company is open to cooperation and establishing partnerships with the private sector in Egypt, in conjunction with the Egyptian government’s ambitious plan to expand hydrogen projects.

He stated that the company operates in 120 countries, through two methods to enter new markets, the first is selling equipment and devices to customers and the second method is a partnership system with local partners in the countries.

He added during his participation in the “Ecomondo 2024 Energy Exhibition in Italy” that the ongoing discussions relate to implementing a project to produce green hydrogen in Suez, as well as another project for biogas, and a project for CHP heat systems.

He stressed that the company seeks to expand and enter other Arab countries, most notably Saudi Arabia, which is witnessing a major boom in the field of renewable energy and green hydrogen in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and there is also interest in other opportunities in African countries.

Stuurman said that the company's sales in 2023 amounted to 365 million euros, and net profits reached 17.9 million euros, and these numbers are expected to rise by the end of this year.
