Arab Finance: Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, reviewed the work plan and timetables for adding generating capacity from renewable energies to Electrical network until 2030 And the energy strategy for 2040, in light of the new energy strategy and work procedures to build a strong, flexible and safe network that accommodates generating capabilities and achieves stability and continuity of electrical supply.
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat discussed the work plan and timetables for adding new capabilities and modernizing and strengthening the unified network to accommodate those capabilities and the efforts of the electricity and renewable energy sector to spread the uses of renewable energy and Egypt’s transition to clean energy by accelerating the time frame to achieve the goal of reaching the contribution of the percentage of renewable energies to reach 42% of the mix. Energy by 2030 instead of 2035, and the projects that have been contracted to add generating capacity from the sun and wind, which are being implemented by the private sector until 2030, with a capacity increase of about 2.5 gigawatts more than planned.
The energy strategy was reviewed until 2040, which aims to reach the contribution of renewable energy to 60% in the energy mix, represented by more than 65 gigawatts of wind and solar energy, 2.4 gigawatts of pumping and storage projects, 2 gigawatts of hydroelectric projects, and 4.8 gigawatts. of nuclear energy, in addition to the use of green hydrogen and reduced
Relying on traditional energy and using fossil fuels, reducing more than 19 gigawatts of traditional turbines that rely on fossil fuels to reach 49 gigawatts instead of 69 gigawatts, and supporting measures to increase the contribution of clean energy to the energy mix and preserving the environment.
