Arab Finance: Yesterday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the latest…The largest railway station In the country – the Upper Egypt Railway Station – in the Bashteel area in Giza, saying that this station, along with other national projects being constructed, is working to revive the transportation sector after it remained neglected for many decades.
Al-Sisi said that the state spent about two trillion pounds on the transportation sector during the past ten years.
Sisi highlighted the country's import bill during the period from 2014 to 2023, which included $9 billion for mobile phone imports, and $23 billion for pharmaceutical imports.
Al-Sisi said: “This import bill represents a good opportunity,” encouraging investors to increase their investments in replacing local products with their imported counterparts.
The president called on “investors and industrialists to review the list of products being imported from abroad and move towards producing them locally in order to create job opportunities and increase tax revenues.”
