Rania Al-Mashat, Egyptian Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, said that equality between women and men in the labor market in Egypt increases the country’s economic growth by 34%, based on reports from the World Bank.
She added in an interview with Al-Sharq, on the sidelines of a ministry event in Cairo, that today, with the participation of the European Union, a program was launched for women entrepreneurs that aims to raise awareness about the available financing tools in a way that reduces the cost for businesswomen.
Al-Mashat reported that Egypt has a program with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that began in 2021, and since its inception, about 35 projects have been launched in the areas of women’s economic empowerment, green transformation, and projects in information technology and artificial intelligence.
