West Bengal Finance Minister Chandima Bhattacharya on Wednesday presented the state budget for 2025-26, which is worth Rs 3.89 lakh crore, which has given significant attention to social welfare, rural development and infrastructure. The government has unveiled a series of infrastructure and agricultural development projects in its budget, allocating important funds for rural connectivity, river erosion control and agricultural assistance initiative.

In an important announcement, Bhattacharya announced that the state government would increase dearness allowance (DA) by four percent from April 1, 2025. This will make the total DA 18 per cent for state employees, which will give them a lot of relief amid rising inflation. CM Mamta Banerjee said that if you look carefully, the Center always makes promises in the Union Budget before the election and after the election is over, their promises prove to be false.

500 crore rupees have been allocated for the Ghatal Master Plan as the scheme has not been approved by the Government of India; Therefore, the state government is taking responsibility to fulfill the scheme. This project will be completed within two years. West Bengal Finance Minister Chandima Bhattacharya presented the budget in the state assembly.
