Mumbai . Due to increase in the prices of tomatoes and potatoes, domestic vegetarian food became costlier by seven percent in the month of November compared to a year ago. The monthly roti rice rate report of rating agency CRISIL says that in the month of November, the price of vegetarian thali increased by seven percent on an annual basis to Rs 32.7. Whereas the prices of non-vegetarian thali have increased by two percent. The main reason why vegetarian thali is becoming expensive is the high increase of 35 percent in the prices of tomatoes and 50 percent in the prices of potatoes. Last month, the price of tomato reached Rs 53 per kg and the price of potato reached Rs 37 per kg.

Apart from this, a 10 percent jump was also seen in the prices of pulses. However, the report says that the prices of these products are likely to fall due to the arrival of new crops in the month of December. Vegetable oil prices also increased by 13 percent in November due to increase in import duty. It is a matter of relief that due to reduction in LPG prices, fuel cost reduced by 11 percent. This helped reduce pressure on domestic plate costs.

Last month, the price of non-vegetarian thali also increased by two percent to Rs 61.5. During this period, the price of broiler chicken increased by three percent. In the calculation of non-vegetarian thali, the weightage of broiler is 50 percent. Compared to October, there was a two percent decline in the price of vegetarian thali, due to which the monthly decline of 17 percent in tomato prices played an important role. Whereas the price of non-vegetarian thali remained stable.
